The Weight of True Guilt

"The Weight of True Guilt" was a project that I did for myself as a way to visualize emotions that was initially meant for a series. I pulled inspiration from metroidvania-styled video game "Blasphemous", where the main character acquires a prayer bead. Once equipped, the bead will turn from a pure white bead into a bead of darkness, absorbing the guilt and sin that as gathered over the course of serval lives. Once the bead is at maximum capacity, it becomes "The Weight of True Guilt". I decided to make something that would some how reflect the rawness and heaviness of the concept. It's meant to be more interpretive, as this is my own interpretation of what it looks like.

This project was made by creating various elements with compressed charcoal and scanned into Illustrator. The elements were organized and edited to make the final piece. Below shows a rough draft/concept that would help finalize the project, along with screenshots from the game that allowed me to help create the color palette.

Thanks for looking!
